Jewish greetings

Jewish greetings are the way Jewish people say hello and welcome each other. There are different greetings for different times of day and occasions.

In the morning, Jewish people say "boker tov" which means "good morning" in Hebrew.

In the afternoon and evening, the greeting is "erev tov" which means "good evening" in Hebrew.

On Friday night, before the Sabbath begins, Jewish people say "Shabbat shalom" which means "peaceful Sabbath" in Hebrew.

During the Jewish New Year, which is called Rosh Hashanah, people say "shana tova" which means "good year" in Hebrew.

When someone goes to synagogue or studies Torah, they might say "l'shanah tovah" which means "for a good year" in Hebrew.
