Jharokha

A jharokha is like a special window that was popular in ancient India. It is a little bit like the window that you look out of in your house, but it is much fancier and has a very special purpose.

People in ancient India used jharokhas to look out and see what was going on outside. They would be able to watch the street or the market from high up in the building. Jharokhas were often decorated with beautiful carvings and designs that were made by skilled artists.

Jharokhas were also used by important people, like kings and queens, to make speeches or to show themselves to the people. For example, a king might stand behind a jharokha and speak to his subjects gathered outside.

Some jharokhas were very small while others were very big. The really big ones were like balconies that could fit many people at once. Some jharokhas were made of wood, while others were made of stone or marble.

Today, jharokhas can still be seen in some parts of India, especially in old palaces and forts. They are now considered a cultural treasure and represent an important part of India's rich history and tradition.
