ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jiedushi

Jiedushi is like when you go to school and there are different classes with different teachers. In ancient China, the country was split up into different parts called "jiedushi" and each one had its own leader called a "jiedushi." Think of it like a school, where each jiedushi is a class with its own teacher. These jiedushi leaders had their own army to protect their area and they would also collect taxes to pay for things like schools and roads. It was like having a mini government in each part of the country. Sometimes, these jiedushi leaders would fight with each other to try and take over more land or have more power. But eventually, a strong leader called the Emperor came and united all of the jiedushi under one rule. So, jiedushi was like having a bunch of mini leaders and mini governments in different parts of the country.
