ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Job sharing

Job sharing is when two people work together to do one job.

Imagine you and your best friend both love to play with dolls. But when you try to play with them at the same time, there aren't enough dolls for both of you to have fun. So, you come up with a plan to take turns. One day, you play with the dolls while your friend watches, and the next day, your friend gets to play with the dolls while you watch. This way, you both get to enjoy playing with the dolls and no one has to feel left out.

Now, imagine that instead of playing with dolls, you and your friend work at a store. You're both very good at what you do, but the store can only afford to hire one person for the job. So, you come up with a plan to share the job. One of you will work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday while the other works on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This way, the store gets two qualified workers for the price of one, and you and your friend get to have time to do other things on the days you're not working.

Job sharing is a great way for people to balance work and life. It allows them to have more time for their families, hobbies, and other interests, while still being able to contribute to the workforce. It's like having two heads on one body, each taking turns to do their part.
