ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

John ellipsoid

Dear young one,
John ellipsoid is a special shape that we talk about in math. It looks like a stretched out circle, kinda like an egg, but even more stretched out. It's called an ellipsoid because that's a fancy name for any shape that looks like an egg.

Now, the reason we talk about John ellipsoids is because they're super important in physics and engineering. You see, when we want to talk about how things move and how they're affected by forces, we use something called Kinematics. And when we use Kinematics, we need to use equations that describe the shape of an object in motion. An ellipsoid is a great way to describe the shape of an object, because it can be big or small, and it can stretch out in all sorts of ways.

So, basically, a John ellipsoid is just a specific type of ellipsoid that people use in math, physics and engineering to help them describe how things move and work together. Pretty cool, huh?
