The Jordan Rift Valley is a long, narrow valley in the Middle East. It is almost 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) long and is located between two mountain ranges: the Galilee in the north of Israel and the Arabian Desert in the east of Jordan. The Jordan River runs through the entire valley and brings water to the plants and animals living there. Many people live in the valley and grow food such as wheat and vegetables. It is also home to many wild animals such as gazelles, ibex, and wolves. It is a special place because its dramatic landscape, rich history, and unique wildlife make it a popular destination for tourists.
