ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Jordanian annexation of the West Bank

Okay kiddo, let me try to make this easy for you to understand.

Imagine you have two toys. One toy is yours and the other toy belongs to your friend. One day, you decide that you want to take your friend's toy and make it yours too. That's what we call "annexation."

Now imagine that instead of toys, we are talking about land. The West Bank is a piece of land that belongs to the Palestinians. But a long time ago, Jordan took control of the West Bank and said it was part of their country.

More recently, Israel also took control of the West Bank and has been building settlements there. Some people think that Israel should give the West Bank back to the Palestinians because it's their land. But other people think that Israel has a right to keep it because they won it in a war.

So when we talk about the Jordanian annexation of the West Bank, we are talking about when Jordan took control of the land and said it was part of their country. But the situation is more complicated than that because other countries and people have been involved too.
