Jorge Álvares
Jorge Alvares was a man a long time ago who went on a really big adventure. He was from Portugal, which is far away from where we live, and he wanted to do something very brave and exciting.
Jorge went on a big boat across the ocean to a place called China. This was a very long time ago, when people didn't know as much about faraway places like that. When he got there, he was the first person from Portugal to ever visit China!
Jorge explored lots of new places in China and talked to people who lived there. He learned all about their culture, which means the way they live, what they eat, and what they believe. Some things that Jorge saw in China were very different from what he was used to in Portugal!
