Judaism in Fez

Judaism is a religion that some people follow. Fez is a city in Morocco where some Jewish people used to live a long time ago.

In Fez, there were special neighborhoods called "mellahs" where the Jewish people lived. They had their own houses, synagogues (special places to pray), and schools.

The Jewish people in Fez had their own traditions and ways of doing things. They celebrated holidays like Passover and Hanukkah, and they followed rules about what they could and couldn't eat (this is called "kosher" food).

Even though the Jewish people in Fez had their own community, they also interacted with the Muslim and Christian people who lived there. They traded goods and services with each other and even learned from each other.

Today, there are still some Jewish people who live in Morocco, but not as many as there used to be in Fez. The mellahs are still there and you can visit them to learn more about the Jewish history of the city.
