ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kaṇāda (philosopher)

Okay, so if you think about it, every time we see something or touch something, it's made up of tiny, tiny parts. These parts are so small that we can't even see them with our eyes. These parts are called atoms.

A long, long time ago, a really smart man named Kaṇāda in India thought about these tiny parts and came up with some really cool ideas about them. He said that everything in the world is made up of these tiny parts and that they're always moving.

Kaṇāda also had this idea that these tiny parts could stick together to make bigger things. So, he thought that if you take a bunch of tiny parts and stick them together in a certain way, you could make a chair, or a table, or something else.

Kaṇāda also believed that these tiny parts were responsible for the different feelings we have. For example, he thought that when we feel happy, it's because we have tiny happy parts inside of us.

Even though Kaṇāda's ideas are very old, they are still used by scientists today to understand the world around us.
