Kaiserjäger
Hey there little friend, have you heard of the kaiserjäger before? They were a group of soldiers from Austria-Hungary who were specially trained to protect the emperor, or kaiser, and fight in the mountains.
You know how when you go outside to play, you have to be really careful if you're climbing on rocks or hills? Well, the kaiserjäger were even more careful because they had to climb really high up in the mountains and stay safe while they were fighting.
They used all kinds of cool tools and weapons like ice axes, ropes, and even skis to help them climb quickly and quietly. Sometimes they even had to wear special uniforms with special shoes to stay warm in the cold and snowy mountains.
