Kamaiya and kamlari are big words that describe a very sad situation that used to happen in Nepal.
You know how you have a home and a family that loves you? Well, some families in Nepal were not able to take care of all their children because they were very poor. So they would send their kids to work in someone else's home. These kids were called kamaiya (if they were boys) or kamlari (if they were girls).
But sometimes, the people who took them in, treated them very badly. They would make them work all day, and sometimes even beat them. The kids were not allowed to go to school, play or have any free time. They were very sad and had no way out.
This is not fair, and it's against the law. So, many people in Nepal started to fight for the rights of these children. They said that all children should be able to go to school and live with their families. And slowly, the situation started to change.
Today, Nepal is working very hard to make sure that all children are safe and happy. Kamaiya and kamlari are not allowed anymore, and all kids have the right to go to school and play.
