ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Karelian language

Karelian is a way that some people talk in a special place called Karelia. Karelia is a place in the far North, and it's a place between Finland and Russia. People who live in this place and talk Karelian are called Karelians.

The Karelian language is a way for Karelians to talk with each other and it sounds a little different than other languages. Just like how some people speak Spanish and some people speak English, Karelians speak Karelian.

Karelian is kind of like a secret language that only Karelians can understand. It has its own words, sentence structures, and sounds. It might be hard for someone who doesn't speak Karelian to learn it, just like how it might be hard for someone who doesn't speak Spanish to learn it.

Sometimes, people who speak Karelian might also speak other languages like Russian or Finnish because those are the languages that the people around them speak, but they always have Karelian as their special language.
