ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Karl Popper

Karl Popper was a scientist who thought about how science works. He said that for a scientific idea to be true, we need to test it by “falsifying” it – that is, trying to prove it wrong. We can use experiments to do this: if a scientific idea can’t be proved wrong in several different experiments, then it’s probably true. Karl Popper thought this was the best way for scientists to learn about the world around us.
