ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ken Crawford (astrophotographer)

Imagine looking up at the sky at night and seeing all the stars and planets shining bright. Now imagine being able to take pictures of them with a special camera that captures all the colors and details you can't see with your eyes. That's what Ken Crawford does!

He's a really talented photographer who takes pictures of the night sky using a special camera that is able to capture all the different colors and details of the stars and planets. It's not like taking a regular picture with a phone, it's way more complicated than that!

Ken uses a really big telescope called a "Celestron C14" and a special camera called a "SBIG ST-8300M" to take his pictures. He also has to use special filters and software to make sure the colors and details are just right.

Ken's pictures are really amazing because they show us things we wouldn't normally be able to see with our own eyes. He takes pictures of stars, nebulae (which are clouds of gas and dust in space), and galaxies that are millions of light-years away from us.

So basically, Ken Crawford is a really cool photographer who takes pictures of space and shows us things we wouldn't otherwise be able to see!
