Kerberos (protocol)

Kerberos is a way to make sure that you are who you say you are when you go online. It makes sure that no one can pretend to be someone else and also helps prevents hackers from getting access to your information. It works by giving you a "ticket" that proves who you are. You show that ticket to a special computer called a "Kerberos server" and it checks to make sure that the ticket is valid. Once it confirms your identity, the Kerberos server will allow you access to whatever online services you want to use.
