Keycard lock

A keycard lock works just like a regular lock, but instead of a metal key, you use a special card to open the lock. This card has some electronic information stored in it that the lock can recognize when you put it near the lock's sensor.

So, imagine you have a special toy that can only be opened with a specific key. However, instead of a metal key, you have a card with some magic information that tells the toy it's okay to open up. To open the toy, you have to put your card close to the special spot on the toy, and it will recognize the information on your card and let you in. That's pretty much how a keycard lock works too!

Keycard locks are often used in hotels, where each guest gets their own card that they use to open their room door. They're also used in other places where security is important, that way only people with the right card can get in.

So, just remember - a keycard lock is a special kind of lock that uses a card instead of a metal key to open up. Cool, huh?
