Khojaly Massacre

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, there was a war between two countries called Azerbaijan and Armenia. They were fighting over a place called Nagorno-Karabakh, which used to be a part of Azerbaijan but a lot of Armenian people lived there too, so they wanted it to join Armenia.

One day, on February 25, 1992, some Armenian soldiers attacked the town of Khojaly in Azerbaijan. They did very bad things like shooting guns and throwing bombs. Lots of people were hurt and some even died. It was a very sad day for everyone involved.

What happened in Khojaly is called a massacre, which means that lots of people were killed and hurt on purpose. Over 600 people died, including lots of kids, women, and old people. Many people had to run away and leave their homes because it was no longer safe to live there.

This event was very important because it showed how bad wars can be and how innocent people can be hurt. It is important to learn about it so that we can remember the people who died and try to make sure that nothing like this happens again.
