Kill switch

A kill switch is like an emergency shutdown button. It stops something from working until you turn it back on. For example, cars have a kill switch that can turn off the engine if there is an emergency. Some phones and computers have a kill switch too - this lets you turn off the device if it gets lost or stolen.
