ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kin selection

Kin selection is a type of natural selection. It's a way that animals work together to pass their genes down to their offspring. It works like this: animals will help other animals that are related to them, even if it helps the other animal more. This helps the animal's species survive, since the genes of the related animals will be passed down to their children, even if it costs the first animal's own offspring something.
