Kurdish rugs are a special kind of rug that are made by Kurdish people who live in the Middle East. These rugs are made by weaving together lots of different pieces of thread or yarn. The threads are usually made from things like wool or cotton, which come from sheep and plants.
When making a Kurdish rug, the weaver has to carefully tie each thread to a special frame, called a loom. They then use a special tool called a shuttle to weave the threads over and under each other to create a pattern. The weaver has to be very patient and pay close attention to what they are doing, because if they make one mistake, it can mess up the whole rug!
Once the weaver has woven enough threads together to make the rug, they carefully cut it off the loom and trim any loose threads. Sometimes the rug will be a plain color, but often it will have a beautiful design with lots of different colors and shapes. Kurdish rugs can be used to decorate the floor of a house, or hung on a wall as a decoration.
These rugs are very special and unique because each one is made by hand, with love and care. They can be passed down from generation to generation and can tell a story about the people who made them and the culture they come from.
