Kurkar

Okay kiddo, have you ever been to the beach and played in the sand? Well, there is a special type of sand called kurkar. Kurkar is mostly found on the beaches in Israel, but it can be found in other parts of the world too.

Kurkar sand is very strong and solid because it is made up of tiny pieces of minerals and quartz that come from rocks. It feels rough and gritty, like when you rub your hands on a rough surface. The sand also has a yellowish or brownish color.

One reason why kurkar is so special is because it helps protect the land from erosion. Erosion is when wind or water wear away the land, and this can happen on beaches too. But kurkar is strong enough to stay in place even when there are strong waves and winds.

Now, another interesting thing about kurkar is that it was once used to build houses! People in the past would use the strong sand to make bricks or blocks for their homes. They would mix the sand with other materials like clay, water, or cement, and then mold the mixture into bricks. These bricks would then be used to build walls and other parts of the house.

So, that's kurkar in a nutshell, kiddo! It's a special type of sand that is strong, solid, and can be used to protect land or build homes.
