Kvass

Ok kiddo, have you ever had soda before? Well, kvass is a drink that's kind of like soda but a little bit different. Instead of using sweeteners like sugar or high fructose corn syrup, kvass is made from a mix of bread and water that's fermented with yeast and bacteria.

So, imagine you have some bread and you soak it in water for a while until it gets kind of mushy. Then you add some yeast and bacteria to it and let it sit for a few days. After a while, the yeast and bacteria eat up some of the carbohydrates in the bread and produce carbon dioxide gas and alcohol.

The carbon dioxide gas makes the drink fizzy, like soda, and the alcohol adds a little bit of a sour taste to it. Kvass is usually a dark color and has a tangy, slightly sweet taste. It's popular in some countries in Eastern Europe and is sometimes sold at farmer's markets or made at home.

So, in summary, kvass is a fizzy drink made from bread, water, yeast, and bacteria that's popular in some countries in Eastern Europe. It's a little bit like soda but has a sour, slightly sweet taste.
