ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Kyklos

Kyklos is a word that means circle or cycle. You know how a wheel goes round and round? That's kind of like a kyklos. But kyklos can also mean a cycle, like the way the seasons change every year or how the moon goes through phases.

In ancient Greece, people believed in something called the "kyklos politikon," which was the cycle of political regimes. This means that they thought that societies went through a cycle of different types of government. They believed that at the beginning, there was a good form of government where everyone was equal and happy. But then over time, things would change and the government would become more tyrannical and unfair. Eventually, things would get so bad that there would be a revolution, and a new cycle would start all over again.

So basically, kyklos is a word that means things go in circles and cycles, whether it's a literal circle or a cycle of change in society or nature.
