ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

LED-backlit LCD

Okay kiddo, let me explain what an LED-backlit LCD means. You know that TVs or computer screens show pictures, right? The screens have small dots called pixels that light up in different colors to make the picture.

A regular LCD screen uses a light source behind it to make the pixels light up. This light source is called CCFL. But, an LED-backlit LCD screen uses a special type of light called the Light Emitting Diode (LED) to light up the pixels.

It’s like a tiny flashlight that shines behind the screen to light up the pixels, and helps to show the picture more clearly. In other words, all the colors on the screen come from those tiny lights, the LEDs.

The LED lights are also more energy-efficient than the CCFL lights, which means it saves electricity, and that's good for the environment. So that's a quick overview of what an LED-backlit LCD screen is all about. Got it, champ?
