LNG carrier

An LNG carrier is a big ship that is specially designed to carry liquefied natural gas. Natural gas is a type of fuel that we use to make electricity, heat our homes and cook our food. It is found deep underground and is pumped up to the surface.

Once it is pumped up, it is then cooled down until it becomes a liquid. This liquid form of natural gas is much easier to transport because it takes up less space than the gas form. The LNG carrier can hold a lot more liquefied natural gas than a regular tanker ship because of the specialized design.

The LNG tanker is designed with special tanks on board that can hold the liquid natural gas in a very cold state, sometimes as low as minus 162 degrees Celsius. This super-cooled liquid state means the gas takes up less space, so the ship can carry a lot more of it.

When the LNG carrier arrives at its destination, the liquid natural gas is warmed up, so it turns back into a gas. This gas is then piped into homes and businesses, where it is used to generate electricity, heat homes or cook food.

So, an LNG carrier is like a really big, special boat that carries cold, liquid natural gas from one place to another, so we can use it for energy in our homes and businesses.
