Lahun Mathematical Papyri

Okay kiddo, so a long time ago, in ancient Egypt, people used to write things down on pieces of paper made from reeds. These pieces of paper were called papyri.

One type of papyri that was found is called the Lahun Mathematical Papyri. These papyri are special because they have math problems written on them.

Now, do you remember how we use numbers in math to solve problems? Well, the people in ancient Egypt also used numbers to solve problems.

Some of the problems on the Lahun Mathematical Papyri are about things like measuring land or figuring out how many bricks you need to build a pyramid. Pretty cool, huh?

People who study math and history like to look at these papyri to learn more about how people used math a really long time ago.
