Lake Urmia

Okay kiddo, let me tell you about Lake Urmia. It's a really big lake in Iran, which is a country far away from here.

Think of it like a giant bowl filled with water, but instead of filling it with soup, it's filled with water that comes from the mountains and rainfall.

For a long time, lots of animals and people in Iran use Lake Urmia to drink, swim, and fish. But in recent years, the lake started to get smaller.

Imagine if you drank some juice from a glass, but you didn't refill it with more juice, eventually there will be no juice left in the glass.

That's kind of what happened to Lake Urmia, it started to lose water and got smaller and smaller. There are many reasons why this happened, like the climate changing, not enough rainfall, too much water being taken from the lake for farming, and pollution.

When the lake gets smaller and shallower, there's not enough water for all the animals and fish to live in, and sometimes the water can become too salty or dirty for them to survive.

So, people are working hard to try and save Lake Urmia. They're trying to do things like planting more trees, using less water for farming, and cleaning up pollution so that the lake can be healthy and full of water again. It's important to take care of our natural resources so that everyone, including animals, can enjoy them for years to come.
