ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Laminated steel blade

Okay kiddo, so you know how when you make a sandwich, you put different ingredients between two slices of bread to make it taste even better? That's kind of like what happens when someone makes a laminated steel blade.

Imagine the blade is like a sandwich too. Instead of slices of bread, the maker uses different layers of steel! They put one layer of steel on top of another layer of steel, kind of like building blocks. The maker keeps doing this until they have a lot of steel layers on top of each other.

Once they have enough layers, they use heat and pressure to squish all the layers together really tightly. This sticks all the layers together and makes one big chunk of steel.

The cool part is that because there are so many layers of steel squished together, the blade ends up being really strong and sharp! It's like if you had a really tall sandwich with a lot of layers of ham and cheese - you'd still be able to taste every layer even though they're all together.

So there you have it, kiddo! A laminated steel blade is just like a really strong and sharp steel sandwich!
