Landscape epidemiology

Landscape epidemiology is like solving a puzzle of who got sick and why they got sick by looking at the land and the things on it.

Let's say you and your friends go to the park and you all eat sandwiches for lunch. A few days later, some of your friends get sick with stomach aches and diarrhea.

A landscape epidemiologist would visit the park and look for clues as to why your friends got sick. They might look at things like how the park is set up, what kind of plants and animals are there, and how the food was prepared.

They would also talk to you and your friends to find out what happened before you got sick. Maybe they find out that a nearby lake has been contaminated with bacteria and the park staff did not close it off.

The landscape epidemiologist would use all of this information to figure out what caused your friends to get sick and come up with ways to keep it from happening in the future.

So, landscape epidemiology is like being a detective who investigates how diseases spread and how they can be prevented by looking at the world around us.
