Laterality refers to which side of your body you prefer to use for certain tasks. Imagine you have two arms, one on the right and one on the left. If you prefer to use your right arm to write or throw a ball, that means you are right-handed. If you prefer to use your left arm, then you are left-handed.
It's not just about arms, though. It also applies to your legs, eyes, and ears. If you prefer to kick a ball with your right foot, you are right-footed. If you prefer to listen to music with your left ear, you are left-eared.
Some people use both sides of their body equally, which is called being ambidextrous. This means they can write with both hands or use both feet to kick a ball.
Laterality is not something you can control, it's just how your brain is wired. Some people are born with a stronger preference for one side of their body, while others develop it over time.
