Laudabiliter

Laudabiliter is a very old document from a really long time ago - around the year 1155. It's kind of like a letter from a Pope to a guy named King Henry II of England.

The Pope, whose name was Adrien IV, said that the King was allowed to take over a place called Ireland and be their ruler.

It was a big deal because Ireland was its own country with its own people, and the Pope was basically saying that the King could just take it over.

Some people think that the document was made up or not real, but other people think it helped lead to a lot of problems and struggles over many, many years in Ireland.
