Laurel wreath

A laurel wreath is a circle made of leaves from a special kind of tree called a laurel. Imagine you are outside and you see a big tree with really pretty leaves – those are laurel leaves!

Long, long ago in Ancient Greece, people would make circles out of these leaves and put them on their heads. It was a way to show that they did something really great, like winning a race or being a really good artist.

Nowadays, people still use laurel wreaths as a symbol of victory or achievement. You might see them in pictures or on medals. It's kind of like a gold star you might get in school – it shows you did something awesome!
