Lava balloon
Okay kiddo! So, you may have heard about lava which is very hot molten rock that comes out of a volcano. Well, a lava balloon is a balloon made of heat-resistant material that scientists use to study lava up close!
When a volcano erupts, lava comes out and can be dangerous for humans to go near. However, scientists still want to learn about how it moves and behaves so they use a special type of balloon called a lava balloon to get up close without getting hurt.
They put special instruments called sensors on the balloon and inflate it with helium gas so it can float over the lava. Then, the balloon sends back information to the scientists on the ground.
It's like having a magic balloon that can fly over hot lava and tell us all about it without getting burned! Cool, right?
