Lazurite

Lazurite is like a special rock that has a very pretty blue color. It is found in some places in the world, like Afghanistan.

Sometimes, people will take the lazurite and make it into something else, like jewelry. That means they will cut it and shape it and put it on a necklace or a bracelet.

But the really cool thing about lazurite is that it's not just pretty, it also has a very important history. A long time ago, people used to use lazurite to make something called ultramarine. Ultramarine was a special kind of blue paint that was highly valued. It was even more expensive than gold!

Today, lazurite isn't used to make ultramarine anymore, but people still really like it because it's pretty and special and reminds us of the past.
