Lead(II) azide

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of fireworks? Well, sometimes to make them go boom, people use a chemical called lead(ii) azide.

Lead(ii) azide is made up of tiny particles called atoms. These atoms stick together to make a special type of molecule. This molecule is made up of lead, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms.

When lead(ii) azide gets heated up or hit really hard, it can break apart and release a lot of energy. This energy is what makes the fireworks go boom!

But, you should never play with lead(ii) azide by yourself. It can be very dangerous and only trained professionals should handle it. Safety first!
