Leave of absence

Okay kiddo, a leave of absence is when someone takes a break from something they're doing for a little while, like going to school or work.

It's like taking a time out from something to take care of themselves or handle something important. Just like when you take a break from playing with your toys when you're feeling tired or want to eat something, grown ups can take a break too!
