ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Legal education in the United States

Ok kiddo, so when people want to become lawyers in the United States, they usually go to a special school called law school.

Law school is kinda like going to school again, but this time you learn all about laws and how they work. You read a lot of books and listen to your teacher talk about different cases where people have broken the law or where they have gone to court to argue about something.

Once you finish law school, you have to take a really hard test called the bar exam. This test is like a big test where you have to answer a lot of questions about the law to prove that you know all about it. If you pass, then you become a lawyer and you can help people with legal problems.

But even after you become a lawyer, you have to keep learning! You have to go to continuing education classes to learn about new laws or changes in the law. This is to make sure that lawyers always know what they are talking about and can give people the best advice.
