Les Plasticiens

Les Plasticiens were a group of artists who painted in a very precise and geometric way. They used shapes and colors to try and create feelings and emotions in the people who looked at their paintings. Imagine you have a box full of different shapes and colors, and you use them to create a picture that makes you feel happy or excited or calm. That's sort of what the Plasticiens were doing. They wanted to show that art didn't always have to be a picture of something real, like a person or a tree, but could be just about the colors and shapes themselves. So, they made paintings that looked kind of like cool patterns you might see on a shirt or a blanket, but they were trying to do more than just look pretty. They wanted to make you feel something special when you looked at them.
