ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Liar paradox

The liar paradox is a statement that seems impossible because it is self-contradictory. It is usually written like this: "This statement is false". If you read the statement and then think about what it means, it is impossible to answer because if it is true, then it is false and if it is false, then it is true! This paradox is an example of how language and logic can be tricky sometimes.
