Liberation of France

Okay kiddo, so have you ever played a game of capture the flag? Sometimes when two teams play, one team will capture the flag and take it back to their home base. But what happens if the other team's home base is so well guarded that it's really hard for the first team to get the flag?

Well, something like that happened in France during World War II. The Nazis took over France and made it their own home base. But there were some countries, like the United States, Great Britain, and Canada, that didn't want the Nazis to keep France. They wanted to capture it back, kind of like capture the flag!

So in 1944, these countries worked together to send a lot of soldiers, weapons, and supplies to France to try and help the French people get free from the Nazis. They called it the "Liberation of France."

It wasn't easy, though. The Nazis had a lot of soldiers and weapons too. There were many fierce battles with lots of fighting and casualties on both sides. But eventually, the allied forces were able to push the Nazis back and free France from their control.

The people of France were really happy and celebrated the liberation with parades and fireworks. They were able to have their own government again and make their own rules, without the Nazis telling them what to do.

So kinda like in capture the flag, the Nazi team had the flag, but the allied forces were able to capture it back and give it to the French team, who were very happy and grateful.
