Light in school buildings

Okay, so you know how we need light to see things? Well, just like how we need sunlight during the day, we also need light inside school buildings. But, the light inside school buildings doesn't come from the sun. Instead, it comes from light bulbs, like the ones you might have in your bedroom or in your living room at home.

Now, there are different types of light bulbs that can be used in school buildings. Some of them are called fluorescent lights and they are long, skinny tubes. These lights can provide a lot of light, but they can also be very bright and even a little bit harsh on our eyes. Other types of light bulbs are called incandescent lights and they are round with a little wire inside that glows when it gets hot. These lights are softer and warmer and can be easier to look at for long periods of time.

When school buildings are designed, they need to think about how much light is needed in each room. Different rooms in a school might need different amounts of light depending on what happens there. For example, a classroom might need a lot of light so that students can read and see what the teacher is writing on the board. But a room where students go to take a break might only need a little bit of light to create a calming atmosphere.

One important thing that the people who design school buildings think about is something called "natural light". This means the light that comes in from windows and doors. When we use natural light, we are using the sunlight to help light up the room instead of always relying on light bulbs. This can be really good for our health because sunlight has vitamins in it that are really important for our bodies.

So, in summary, school buildings need light so that we can see things inside. There are different types of light bulbs that can be used, and the amount of light needed is different depending on what is happening in the room. Designers also think about natural light, which is sunlight that comes in through windows and doors.
