ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Liman (landform)

Okay, so imagine you are at the beach and you see a part of the sand that looks like a small hill or bump in the ground. That is kind of what a liman looks like!

But, a liman is actually made up of sand and mud that gets pushed up and formed by the waves and currents of the water. It usually forms at the edge of the water where the ocean meets a river or lake.

So, just like when you build a sandcastle at the beach, the waves and water move the sand around and make it into a bump or hill. But with a liman, it happens over time and with the help of the currents of water.

And sometimes, plants and trees can grow on a liman because it has enough soil and nutrients to support them, making it a cool little ecosystem!
