Lime plaster

Have you ever played with sandcastles at the beach? You use wet sand to make a shape and then let it dry in the sun. Lime plaster is like grown-up sandcastle building for houses.

First, you mix lime and water together to create a paste, just like mixing sand and water for your sandcastle. You might also add some sand or clay to the mix.

Next, you spread the lime plaster paste onto a wall or ceiling using a trowel, just like you might spread frosting on a cake with a knife. As the lime plaster dries, it gets hard and turns into a strong, durable coating for the wall or ceiling.

Lime plaster used to be very popular a long time ago, but then people started using other kinds of plaster and paint because it was faster and cheaper to build homes that way. But now, people are starting to use lime plaster again because it's better for the environment and can give homes a unique and beautiful look.
