ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Line coordinates

Imagine drawing a straight line on a piece of paper. The line goes from one point to another. Line coordinates are like directions to tell exactly where the line starts and where it ends.

Think of a game where you have to find your way to a friend's house. You might use a map and follow the directions to get there. Similarly, to find a line on a graph, we use line coordinates to tell us exactly where the line starts and where it ends.

Line coordinates use two numbers, just like the game directions might say to turn left and then turn right. The two numbers are called X and Y.

X is like how far to go left or right on the graph. Imagine a line that goes from 0 to 10. The start of the line would be at 0 on the X axis and the end will be at 10 on the X axis. So, the X coordinate for the start of the line is 0 and the X coordinate for the end of the line is 10.

Y is like how far to go up or down on the graph. Imagine a line that goes from 0 to 5. The beginning of the line will be at 0 on the Y axis and the end will be at 5 on the Y axis. So, the Y coordinate for the start of the line is 0 and the Y coordinate for the end of the line is 5.

So, together, the line coordinates could be (0,0), which means the line starts at 0 on the X axis and 0 on the Y axis. And the line ends at 10 on the X axis and 5 on the Y axis.

Overall, line coordinates are like a map to show us where the line is on a graph. The coordinates tell us where to start and where to end the line by using X and Y numbers.
