Linear least squares (mathematics)

Linear Least Squares is a way to solve certain types of math problems. In this kind of problem, you have a set of points that you want to make a straight line to fit them as closely as possible. To do this, we'll try to fit a line (represented by a formula) that will have the smallest possible difference between the points on the line and the points you already have. This means the line matches up as closely as possible to the points you have. Linear Least Squares is a way of finding the best formula to match up the points.
