ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lipid

Okay kiddo, let me explain to you what lipids are. Lipids are chemicals that our body uses to give us energy and keep us healthy. They are also known as fats. Now, think of lipids as tiny packets of energy that our body stores for later use, just like snacks that you pack for a long car ride.

Lipids in our body do a lot of important things. They help our body absorb vitamins and minerals from the food we eat. They also make up parts of our body, like our skin, brain, and hormones.

Lipids can be found in many different foods, like butter, cheese, meat, and fish. Even some types of fruits and vegetables have lipids in them. However, some lipids are bad for our body if we have too much of them. For example, eating too much junk food can make our body store too much bad fat which can harm our body.

So, it is important to have a balanced diet and not to eat too much of bad fat. This way, our body can stay healthy and happy!
