ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lipophobicity

Imagine you have a chef’s hat on and you are making a yummy pizza. You know that oil and cheese don't mix together very well, and when you put too much oil on your pizza, the cheese can slide off. This is because the cheese doesn't like the oil and tries to escape from it.

Now think about how some things don't like to mix with fat or oils - these things are called lipophobic. Like the cheese on your pizza, they will try to get away from the oils. This can happen with chemicals that don't dissolve in fats or oils, and this is why people say they are lipophobic.

So, lipophobicity is when something doesn't like to mix with fats or oils. It's like the opposite of being lipophilic, which means something likes to mix with fats or oils. It's important to understand lipophobicity because it affects how different chemicals interact with each other and with our bodies.
