Hi there! So have you ever seen a boat that floats on the water? Well, imagine a special kind of boat called a Liquid Robotics Wave Glider. It doesn't just float on the water, it actually uses the waves to move around!
The Wave Glider has two parts - a top part that floats on the water and a bottom part that hangs down below. These two parts are connected by a special cable that can stretch like a rubber band. When the waves push the top part of the Wave Glider up and down, this stretches the cable and moves the bottom part back and forth.
But why would we want a boat that moves like this? Well, the Wave Glider can be used for all sorts of important things - like measuring things in the ocean, or looking for oil or natural gas under the sea. It can also be used to help keep an eye on things like hurricanes or tsunamis, so we can stay safe.
The Wave Glider is really cool because it can stay out in the ocean for months at a time, moving around and doing its job all on its own. And even though it's not a person, it can "talk" to us using special satellite signals, so we can learn all about what's going on in the ocean without ever having to leave the shore!
