Lithic reduction

Lithic reduction is when people make tools out of rocks by hitting them with something hard, like another rock or a piece of bone.

Imagine you are at the beach and you find a really cool rock. You take it home and start hitting it with another rock until it breaks into a sharp shape you can use to cut things.

People have been doing this for thousands of years, even before they knew how to use metal. They would use these rock tools to hunt animals, make clothes, and build homes.

Lithic reduction is a very important part of human history and has allowed us to survive and thrive in many different environments.
